MIRROR - "When You Can't See Your True Worth"

Your Divination
You look in the mirror and only see flaws. Your inner critic is louder than God’s voice, and you’ve forgotten that you’re made in His image… fearfully and wonderfully.
Saintly Wisdom
Mary is called the “Mirror of Justice” because she perfectly reflects God’s love. When we look at her, we see what it looks like to know our true worth. She didn’t see herself as too small or too flawed for God’s plan. She saw herself as beloved, chosen, and capable because that’s how God saw her.
The Mirror's Story with Mary
Mary is called “Speculum Justitiae” (Mirror of Justice) in the ancient Litany of Loreto because she perfectly reflects God’s character without distortion. Unlike us, who often reflect a broken image of God due to our wounds and fears, Mary shows us God’s true nature: merciful, loving, patient, and just. In medieval times, mirrors were made of polished metal and gave imperfect reflections. But Mary is like a perfect mirror… when we look at her, we see exactly what God intended humanity to look like. She helps us see ourselves not as broken mirrors reflecting a distorted image, but as beloved children made in God’s image, capable of reflecting His light.
The Prayer
“Mirror of Justice, I struggle to see myself clearly. My view is clouded by shame, comparison, and the lies I’ve believed about my worth. Help me see myself through your eyes… and through your Son’s eyes. Reflect back to me the truth of who I am: beloved, chosen, and made in God’s image. When I look in mirrors, help me see not my flaws, but my Father’s face. Amen.”
Practical Reflection
You are not your worst thought about yourself… you are God’s masterpiece. Mary shows us that true beauty comes from knowing whose we are, not from being perfect.
Takeaway Mantra
“I reflect God’s image and I am enough.”
Simple Action Step
Next time you look in a mirror, say one thing you’re grateful for about yourself. Make it a daily habit until it becomes natural.
