MOON - "When You're Walking Through Darkness"

Your Divination

You’re in the darkest season of your life. Everything feels uncertain, and you can barely see one step ahead… let alone find hope for the future.

Saintly Wisdom

Mary stands on the moon in sacred art because she shows us how to find light in darkness. The moon has no light of its own… it reflects the sun’s glory. Mary teaches us that even when we can’t generate our own hope, we can reflect God’s light to guide our way through the darkest nights.

The Moon's Story with Mary

In Revelation 12, John sees “a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.” This woman, understood by many to be Mary, stands on the moon because she has conquered the darkness that the moon represents. In ancient times, the moon symbolized change, uncertainty, and the passage of time… all the things that make us feel unstable. But Mary stands ON the moon, showing us that faith can give us solid ground even when everything else is shifting. The moon reflects the sun’s light when the sun isn’t visible… just like Mary reflects Christ’s light when we can’t see Him clearly. She teaches us that we don’t need to be the source of light… we just need to reflect the Light we’ve received.

The Prayer

“Woman Clothed with the Sun, I am walking through the darkest valley and I can’t see the way forward. Be my light in this darkness. Help me trust that even when I can’t see God working, He is still there. Let me reflect His light to others who are struggling, even when my own flame feels dim. Guide my steps until the dawn breaks and I can see clearly again. Amen.”

Practical Reflection

You don’t need to be the source of light… you just need to reflect the Light that already exists. Mary shows us that sometimes the best thing we can do in darkness is simply keep walking toward God.

Takeaway Mantra

“I reflect God’s light even in my darkest moments.”

Simple Action Step

Go outside tonight and look at the moon (or a light in the darkness). Remember that you can be light for someone else, even when you feel like you’re in the dark.
